National Health Conference

CHAI is organizing a two-day National Health Conference on 17th and 18th October 2019 at Holy Family Hospital, Okhla Road, Delhi. The event will be attended by around 300 Hospital Directors and Administrators from all over India from the CHAI network. The hospitals have a bed capacity of over 50 beds.

The event will be graced by the presence of Former Union Minister of State for Culture and Tourism, Sri Alphons Kannanthanam.

The theme of the event is “Healthcare at the margins - Innovation for Quality Care”. The event will facilitate deliberation of the 10-year transformation plan for the network Vision 2030 which focuses on innovation through technology, interdependence within the network and achieving gold standards in healthcare delivery.

Technology platforms will be rolled out including the CHAI academy and Medigate platform. The CHAI Academy is a platform to deliver low cost training modules with expanded reach on leadership and healthcare. The Medigate platform integrates the medical and surgical procurement needs of the network and provides for collective procurement for the Member Institutes across India.

Catholic Health Association of India (CHAI)

Founded in 1943 by Sr. Dr Mary Glowrey, an Australian Nun, CHAI is one of the largest pan Indian healthcare networks in the country after the Government, consisting of over 3500 Member Institutions (MIs): 1409 dispensaries, 913 health centers and 928 hospitals – with over 50,000 beds, 210 Disability rehabilitation centers and 90 Holistic Care Centers for PLHIV etc.

Over 92% of CHAI MIs are headed by Sister Doctors/Nurses/Social Workers and 84% serve in the medically underserved areas. They operate under 11 Regional Units across India. CHAI MIs extend medical care to over 21 million persons in a year - with a team of 1000 Sister-Doctors; 25,000 Sister-Nurses; 10,000 plus Sister-paraprofessionals, around 40,000 Sister/Priest Social Workers and a huge number of lay employees.
